NOTE: If you are trying to deter Myna Birds or Blackbirds we have found that the Yard Sentinel with a bit of sonic volume works best. See more here.
The Balcony Guard is designed to break the habit of the birds. This can take anywhere between 1-2 weeks and at times another layer of deterrent may be required such as the Holographic scare ribbon or Optical Gel to speed up this process.
The Balcony guard does not affect pet dogs.
Ultrasonics work in line of sight, so the unit needs to be pointing in the direction of where the pest birds are sitting.

Please note: To deter Myna Birds or Blackbirds, the Yard Sentinel or Bird Xpeller Pro is a better choice than the Balcony Guard as it is able to be used with Sonic volume which for Myna birds achieves better results than ultrasonics alone.

I can hear the sound and it is irritating. I could mind for a bit but then it got too annoying. Doesn’t seem to deter the birds either. The only way I got rid of the bird is by removing any roosting spots which meant getting rid of my table and chairs. I was really hopping this would work but they just sit in front of the device and doesn’t bother them.

There is a very small percentage of people who can hear the Balcony Guard and find it irritating.
Usually putting it on the High frequency (rather than low) mitigates this.
The Balcony Guard is an excellent device for a large range of birds but as stated in the description, not all birds.
For instance, if you have myna birds or blackbirds you really need a unit with an optional audible sound like the Yard Sentinel or use a visual decoy.

I have a single car garage I have been using for storage and was mortified and disgusted when I wanted to retrieve some boxes of paperwork only to find them littered with rats droppings.

A friend of mine told me about this fantastic device which deterred rodents in his shed so I thought I’d better give it a try.

I purchased this product as I had approximately 400 flying foxes move into the trees at the back of my property. Switched it on with a direct line of sight and waited for the results. 6 weeks later we had 7000 flying foxes! Absolute waist of money ????????????

This sounds like a serious infestation and would require a more commercial product or more than a single Balcony Guard.
You mention you have it pointed in direct line of sight of the trees, which means it is more than a single tree, and 400 flying foxes is more than one unit with a coverage range of 8×8 metres can be expected to cover.

We purchased some products from you earlier this year as we were having problems with pigeons nesting in a statue of Mary in an alcove elevated 14m above the ground at the front of the church. The bird droppings actually mounded up on the ground in the forecourt below. It was such an unsightly problem. The 2 Balcony Guards we purchased have been unbelievably effective!
We tried everything to keep the swallows out of the shed including sealing holes.
I set up the balcony Guards, set to low frequency and plugged into power and the swallows left and never came back.

I’m so very pleased to share this review on my experience with this company.
My problem was specifically with myna birds during the day and fruit bats at night so I called the team at Bird Control Australia who recommended using the Balcony Guard and the Yard Sentinel RC.
The Yard Sentinel needed to be on day and night with the optional sonic volume on during the day only as it is essential for deterring mynas.
The Balcony Guard was to give us the additional coverage required for deterring the bats as they were in a tree but we were mindful of not using sound at night. We needed something silent.
Well, not even a week on and both off the pests have disappeared!
Had I not contacted the team, I probably would have purchased the wrong product and had a different result.
I am most impressed with how easy they were to contact, how friendly they were to converse with and how quickly the products arrived.
These guys are based in Sydney and are the real deal. Cant say I have ever had such a great experience buying something online.

So many birds this year! We live in the country and spring is hard but it’s been relentless throughout winter this year. My daily routine included cleaning up bird poo and as spring kicks in, polishing any reflective surface that had been attacked (not to mention the noise of them throwing themselves at the windows). But no more! I was sceptical but I needn’t have been. I’d been through the entire Bunnings range of preventative measures but nothing worked. ‘Jake the fake’ owl was useless. Your balcony guard has done the trick! It took about ten days for there to me a ‘moving on’ feel, and while there’s the odd one that still likes to poo on the deck railings, they don’t stay, they don’t sleep overnight and the problem is 90% resolved. I can live with that as I’m confident that when spring settles, it will be towards 100%. We are so happy. Years of fighting, moaning and cleaning are over. Now we’re ordering one for our open fronted shed.

Seems great so far. We had it on the battery powered sensor mode so it would only go off if the sensor was detected and our awful myna birds outsmarted that and found ways around setting it off and continued to poo all over our new deck. However we’ve now run an extension cable to use continual ac power and we didn’t see them yesterday so that’s great.

We live in Brisbane and have a huge tamarind tree near our pool that the bats feasted on every night. Every morning we would have to use Harsh cleaners and scrub to remove the poo. It took about a week for us to get the right position and we can happily say that for the last month we have had no bat poo what so ever! We have a beautiful country home which also became home to the swallows who were nesting in the eves on 4 sides of the house.

IT DOES WORK !!!
I just wanted to say how fantastic the Balcony Guard is. We installed it on Wednesday and the birds are only now coming in very infrequently if at all.
We had to be persistent and chase them off when we first installed it so that they felt that this was not a comfortable place to settle. After having done that for a few nights and days we now don’t have any birds.
This will save my verandah furniture and also the paint on the walls. We have had to repaint a twice because of the mess of the birds. The mess was all over the walls, windows and doors. It is lovely to be able to go out onto the verandah and use the space now.
