The inbuilt solar panel charges the NiCad batteries (supplied) so there is no need to use an external power supply, this excellent, small but effective unit is designed to stand alone and be self sufficient. Using the inbuilt “silent” ultrasonic sound as well as choosing the optional strobe light creates a “no go zone” on your boat, rooftop or on your home.
For boats it is best to position one unit on the deck facing backwards and one on the aft pointing forward.
Use 2-3 units pointing in towards each other to create powerful coverage.

This unit is brilliantly effective at keeping seagulls off my boat. I have it on the setting with the flash.
My only complaint is that I need to charge it pretty often even though it has a solar panel.
I think it could be because the boat is constantly moving and setting off the sensor.
I have heard the Bird Busta sweep deterrents are great so adding that to the deck to work as a back up if the batteries go flat

I have been very impressed my my deterrents and with the experience of dealing with Bird Control Australia.
I purchased a Solar Boat Guard and a Solar Boat Guard kit. The two Guards were positioned on the stern and bow and the bird scare ribbon and balloons were spread across the railing and bimini.
They have worked well to keep the seagulls and swallows away.
Recently I had a problem with one of the units and the company were very prompt with their after service. They deserve 5 stars and more.

It took around 2 weeks but the 2 Solar Boat Guards did repel the pigeons nicely.
Now to get an effective repeller for stopping the parrots from taking our fruit.

I set up 2 at opposite ends of the jetty facing in towards each other and the work very well to deter the cormorants and ducks.
It hasn’t been good on the sparrows though. I think it may be because they are too small for the sensor to pick up so I will add a visual scare.
Overall very happy though as the ducks and cormorants are the real mess makers!
