Physical deterrents such as bird spikes will only keep the birds off certain areas. They are fantastic at blocking them from landing or perching but if there are other areas they frequent and you want them to stay away from the general area, then sound deterrents or visual deterrents are recommended as well.

The Motion Activated Sprinkler, Yard Sentinel RC and Solar Predator Eyes solar animal deterrent are great for deterring ground birds and animals as well as nocturnal animals.

The Yard Sentinel RC and Solar Predator Eyes use flashing strobes which only come on at night.

The Bird Laser Bird Deterrent and Hawk Laser are also excellent deterrents for both indoors and outdoors at night and can cover large areas.

The Motion Activated Sprinkler is a very popular bush turkey deterrent and achieves great results.

Yes, these birds are less sensitive to ultrasonics. A lot of customers have success deterring cockatoos, parrots, galahs etc using the Bird Xpeller Pro V2,  Superbird Xpeller Pro V2  or Broadband Pro with V2 chip combined with our Visual Scare Hawks or the Hawk Laser.
The swooping Scarybird Kite kit is also very effective.

Lasers are the best product for getting rid of ducks. People are obtaining brilliant results.

The Bird Laser is only effective between dusk and dawn.

The sonic and ultrasonic deterrents will not work for ducks.

There are 2 available models of the Yard Sentinel, the 131 and 132 ( or RC model)
The difference is that the Yard Sentinel RC model also comes with a flashing strobe light which acts as another layer of pest deterrent by disorientating the birds, and it also comes with remote control and a sound ( sonic ) feature on top of the ultrasonic.
The Balcony Guard is ultrasonic only and is popular because of the whitewash colour and strong Bird-X branding. It is also the quietest ultrasonic deterrent on the market.

When dealing with wildlife, there are no guarantees. You must remember that these creatures are invading your property for a reason and if that reason is (i) nesting or (ii) a food source, it is quite difficult to deter them. The good news is it can be done and with some perseverance, the products will work and keep these pests away.

Magpie Larks have very little response to sound devices.

The best way to deter them is by attacking their sense of sight.

Holographic bird scare ribbon flapping in the breeze works well on them.

The Indoor Laser also works well if undercover as it uses beams which resemble lightning bolts, which they are terrified of.

Taking away the reflection of the windows by making them opaque certainly helps as well.

If you have the room, the Scarybird Kite does a great job deterring all birds including Magpie Larks due to its ability to swoop and hover and the Prowler Owl is great for smaller areas such as decks or  adjacent to pools and can conveniently be placed in a planter box.

When using a decoy bird of prey, it is essential you use one that is not static.

Wobbly head owls and fake hawks are not very effective unless they have open, moving wings.

Our Prowler Owl has open wings which move with slight breeze as it sits in position of attack and this is what makes it so effective.

The Scarybird Kite kit comes with a 9 metre telescopic pole with a Hawk shaped kite attached and it swoops, flies and hovers around with minimal amount of wind. It should be taken down in winds which exceed 42 km.

The Scare Hawk Visual Deterrent is a full size replica of a hovering hawk. It needs to be placed 5 or more metres high, attached to a pole or hung from with fishing line. Its wings move with a light breeze and will withstand winds in excess of 42 km if mounted firmly. Flexible poles or supported conduit are great mounting bases for the Scare Hawk Visual Deterrent.

The sonic sounds you hear on the Bird Xpeller Pro, Superbird Xpeller Pro and Broadband Pro are audible to pets and humans but just sound like a series of bird chirping sounds.

You have full control over the volume and if the unit is set at the optimal volume and position, it will just blend in with nature.

This unit is widely used by in hotel, restaurants and residential settings with little or no impact on pets, patrons or neighbours.

The photocell on the unit detects night and day so you can also just set the unit to operate only during daytime hours so it is off at night.

The Broadband Pro has both ultrasonic sounds (inaudible to most humans) with the option to turn on the sonic sounds.
