If you have the room, the Scarybird Kite does a great job deterring all birds including Magpie Larks due to its ability to swoop and hover and the Prowler Owl is great for smaller areas such as decks or adjacent to pools and can conveniently be placed in a planter box.

Do you guarantee that your products work?

When dealing with wildlife, there are no guarantees. You must remember that these creatures are invading your property for a reason and if that reason is (i) nesting or (ii) a food source, it is quite difficult to deter them. The good news is it can be done and with some perseverance, the products will work and keep these pests away.

Do your products come with a warranty?

Yes. Our products all come with a manufacturers’ warranty that cover defects and damage.

Can we use the product free of charge, and if it works then pay for it?

Due to the nature of wild birds, the vast range of breeds, environment and seasonal habits of bird species, we do not offer our products for sale on a trial and return basis. Do you provide overseas SHIPPING ?

What preparation is required prior to installation of my device/s?

Cleaning up nests, feathers and bird droppings is a necessary and extremely important step pre-set up. Cleaning up with a hospital grade detergent such as bleach or chlorine removes the smell that makes the birds feel at home in.

Do you provide installation services?

We are an online business and only supply product/s. Our products are specially selected for easy installation and do not require any hardwiring or trade services to install. However we do understand that for larger properties such as warehouses and agricultural properties, there is a demand for consultation and installation services. For this reason, we are currently working with installers in each state to provide these services. If you do require any information on installation services for our bird scaring devices or pest control, please call our office and speak to our Sales staff.

Why should I consider a combined strategy for bird control?

It’s important to understand that birds and other wildlife are similar to humans in that they have instincts and develop habits. The secret to bird and wildlife control is to break these habits! Our environmentally friendly products are designed to simply create a hazardous environment for the wildlife, causing them to go elsewhere to feed, nest, or perch and play. Products are either visual deterrents, audio deterrents, or sensory deterrents. Research has shown that a combined-sensory approach (i.e. audio and visual) is more effective than a single-sensory approach, and is more likely to keep the birds away once they are gone.

How many Bird Busta Bird Repellers do I need?

The Bird Busta has sweeping arms that are 1 metre and 2 metres in diameter to keep birds off boats, jetties or elsewhere. If using on a boat, we recommend one at the fore and one at the aft decks. On jetties and other areas, we recommend using enough to cover the entire deck area. The Bird Busta Repellers are more effective when they catch the wind which propels them and keeps the birds away.

Do Visual Decoys Work?

Yes they do. Visual decoys have all been tested and proven effective. However, birds are intelligent creatures and will often return if the visual devices are in the same place and have no moving parts. Simple products like our Bird Scare Tape or Scare Hawk decoy that capture the wind and have movement have been very effective against birds. Other visual devices are also highly effective but may need to be moved every now and then to ensure birds don’t become accustomed to them. Many visual deterrents are life-sized replicas of predatory birds that have been very effective in controlling pest birds.

Sonic or Ultrasonic for Swallows? How else can you deter them?

Sonic (recorded predator calls and distress cries) have little effect on swallows; because they build their nests in man-made structures, they feel secure. Ultrasonic devices such as the Balcony Guard, Quadblaster QB4 and the Ultrason X, unlike sonic devices, rely on irritating frequencies rather than frightening noises.

Our range of Lasers and Optical Gel are also very effective in deterring swallows

PLEASE NOTE: If humans are to be in constant proximity of Ultrasonic speakers we recommend installing at a distance of 3 metres to not interfere with hearing

What is the difference between the Balcony Guard and Yard Sentinel?

There are 2 available models of the Yard Sentinel, the 131 and 132 ( or RC model)
The difference is that the Yard Sentinel RC model also comes with a flashing strobe light which acts as another layer of pest deterrent by disorientating the birds, and it also comes with remote control and a sound ( sonic ) feature on top of the ultrasonic.
The Balcony Guard is ultrasonic only and is popular because of the whitewash colour and strong branding.

Is there are specific strategy you recommend for Cockatoos, Corellas, Parrots or Galahs?

Yes, these birds are less sensitive to ultrasonics. A lot of customers have success deterring cockatoos, parrots, galahs etc using the Bird Xpeller Pro V2, Superbird Xpeller Pro V2 or Broadband Pro with V2 chip combined with our Visual Scare Hawks or the Hawk Laser.
The swooping Scarybird Kite is also very effective.

We have had feedback from customers that say that the Balcony Guard has worked on cockatoos and corellas. We believe that ultrasonics can be hit and miss with cockatoos.

If you are going to use the Balcony Guard do ensure you use it on AC CONT power and not Motion Sensor.

Only use it on cockatoos if they are in close range, for eg a deck or balcony but not in trees and ultrasonics do not penetrate solid objects.

Doing this will significantly increase the success rate.

Are your products suitable to be left out in the weather?

Yes, most products can be exposed to weather conditions.

Keep in mind that on extremely windy days it may be best to take down visual decoys such as the Prowler Owl and Scarybird Kite.

The lasers should also be turned off in temperatures exceeding 40 degrees celsius. Some people place a cover over the top of them to create shade.

Products such as the Indoor laser, Quadblaster and Transonic Pro can be used outdoors undercover only.

Best products for deterring crows?

In a residential setting, using an ultrasonic product such as the Yard Sentinel or Balcony Guard combined with the Visual Feather Crow can be enough to deter crows.

For a commercial or large space, The Bird Xpeller Pro V2 (or Superbird Xpeller Pro V2 ) which makes sounds of crow distress calls combined with predator sounds is a terrific option as is the Hawk Laser. Always combine with the Visual Feather Crow where possible.

The Scarybird kite is another effective deterrent for crows as it resembles a swooping and hovering bird of prey.

Best products for deterring Indian Mynas?

The Yard Sentinel with the sonic volume on is a terrific Indian Myna bird deterrent for areas smaller than 100 sqm.

The Bird Xpeller Pro V1 for larger areas and the Prowler Owl are also great options. You can combine the Prowler Owl with one of the sound options for a more powerful repellent effect.

Best pigeon deterrents?

We have a very large range of pigeon deterrents.

The Balcony Guard is fantastic for areas smaller than 65 sqm.

Other great pigeon deterrents are Optical Gel, Shock Tape and Scarybird Kite.

For larger areas or commercial applications- Bird Xpeller Pro V1, Broadband Pro, Ultrason-X, Quadblaster QB4 and all of our laser products.

Our Keep ‘Em Out Solar panel mesh is recommended for installing around solar panels to stop pigeons nesting underneath.

The spinning and reflective Flock Reflectors are also very effective especially when used in combination with sound deterrents.

Best ibis deterrents?

There are only really a few products that work on ibis but they can be extremely effective.

They are the Broadband Pro with a V2 chip, Superbird Xpeller Pro V2, Shock Tape and the Hawk Laser.

We work closely with an arborist who has been installing Shock Tape with the Solar Powered Energiser in Palm Trees with nesting ibis and deterring them with excellent results.

Best deterrents for bush turkeys, possums, rabbits, rodents , deer and wallabies?

The Motion Activated Sprinkler, Yard Sentinel RC and Predator Eyes solar animal deterrent are great for deterring ground birds and animals and nocturnal animals.

We also have a Critter Blaster sound chip which can be used in the Broadband Pro which works on just about all animals including birds of prey. The sound is extremely annoying but you can control the volume and use with an appliance timer.

Best deterrents for warehouse, factories and car parks?

The Broadband Pro, Ultrason-X and Quadblaster are the most sold products for this application and many companies are now choosing the Indoor laser, Bird Laser and/or Hawk Laser instead of or in conjuction with the acoustic machines and they are highly effective and people can still work safely in the premises when set up correctly ie pointed up at the ceiling where birds tend to roost.

Care should be taken to ensure that lasers are installed in such a way that they not pointed to moving vehicles or reflecting off surfaces that can distract drivers and pedestrians.

Best deterrents for vineyards and orchards?

Using a mix of sound and visual deterrents is a must when dealing with birds and food.

The Hawk Laser has been achieving brilliant results especially when combined with the Broadband Pro, Superbird Xpellers, visual decoys such as the Visual Scare Hawk or Scarybird Kite, Visual Scare balloons which move around and have reflective eyes and holographic bird scare ribbon.

You often see Holographic Bird Scare ribbon cut in strips glistening in the sun in vineyards.

Best deterrents for boats?

We now have a Marine Kit which comprises of 1 x Solar Boat Guard, 2 Scare balloons and some Holographic bird scare ribbon.

The Bird Spiders 360 are brilliant as they have lots of stainless steel arms which bop up and down with the buoyancy of the water and do not require wind to spin them.

We also stock the Australian made Bird Busta sweeps which spin in the wind.

The sweeps and Bird Spiders come in different sizes and there are several attachments to choose from for mounting them.

People with Seagull problems also have great success with the Bird Xpeller Pro V1 or the Solar Bird Chase if they are looking for just one product for their boat.

How do I keep birds off the roof?

If you have solar panels then it is best to block them out using the Keep ‘Em Out Solar Panel mesh.

This does not keep the birds off the roof all together though so it is good to use Flock Reflectors, Ultrasonics and/or the Prowler Owl to keep them away completely.

The Solar Bird Chase is another popular sonic option for deterring pigeons

Are Bird Spikes enough of a deterrent on their own?

Physical deterrents such as spikes will only keep the birds off certain areas. They are fantastic at blocking them from landing or perching but if there are other areas they frequent and you want them to stay away from the general area, then sound deterrents or visual deterrents are recommended as well.

Do any of your products contain poisons or are potentially harmful to people or animals?

No, products stocked by Bird Control Australia are Eco -friendly, pet friendly, do not contain harmful chemicals and are ethical and humane.

They also do not affect hearing aids or pacemakers.

If our products are installed by a Pest Control Professional, they may combine their system with our products.

Do you have a product to deter spiders, cockroaches, flying and crawling insects, rodents and bats?

The Transonic Pro is a low maintenance, low profile unit which uses a sound barrier to deter all of the above pests mostly on the QUIET setting. There are multiple settings for deterring multiple pests without the need for chemicals, traps or poisons. The Transonic Pro will not harm humans, pets or birds. Do keep it away from pet spiders and rodents.

This unit is for indoor use only and is perfect for sheds, attacks, garage spaces, restaurants, tunnels and much more.
