I think I’m still recovering as I write this blog!
Here is a story about our visitor, the possum. Not the sort of visitor we are used to receiving in the middle of a busy city fringe apartment block and certainly most unwelcome at 2am!
I was awakened by a banging sound and immediately jumped up as it was such a thud and I thought our baby fell out of his cot, but the banging continued and then there was noise coming from the balcony. Was somebody on our top floor balcony, 4 stories high!? My god, is there an intruder in our home?
My husband was also awakened by the noise and we went out the the lounge area (mind you I had to push him out of the bed!) to see what the racket was and to our amazement we saw what looked like a black kitten sitting on our balcony starring in at us. It wasn’t a tiny kitten, more like it was a few months off being full grown. “Poor little kitty cat ” I said. ” he must be lost. But how on earth did he end up here?” As I was about to open the glass door I noticed the curl on the end of the tail and then our not so timid kitty cat started to bang on the glass, climbing on our outdoor setting and launching itself into the glass. This was not a cat at all, it was a very hungry and determined possum who wanted to come in and was just glaring at us!
“Oh no! What do we do? We can’t throw him off the balcony and we can’t pick him up as those claws will rip us to shreds!”
We had stock of Yard Sentinels Possum , pest and bird deterrents in the apartment ready to be shipped out and there was no better time to use one on our not so friendly the possum!
We quickly unpacked one and turned it on and placed it on the balcony facing the possum who quickly backed himself against the railing and hid behind the pot plant away from the Ultrasonic sound.
We then went back to bed and within a couple of minutes we heard our broom and watering can being knocked over on the balcony and then noises on the roof which turned out to be the sweet sound of the possum running away.
Yard Sentinel 1, Possum Zero!
We turned on the Yard Sentinel Pest repellent again the following night just in case our little intruder decided to come back.
Thankfully it has been 3 nights and no sight of him. One thing for sure is we won’t be sleeping with the balcony doors open for a long time!
It’s got me, we have lived in this apartment for over 8 years and this has never happened, then we become owners of Bird Control Australia selling pest repellents and its like the possum Mafia is after us!
